Introduction

In Good Faith and Associates is an independent Australian-based pastoral advocacy, care and support service providing specialist assistance to women and men who are survivors of abuse by clergy and religious professionals. We also provide education, resources and consultancy for organisations, professionals and other groups.

We are based in Queen Street, Melbourne, with a range of associates who provide recovery assistance, including:
  • trauma-psychological therapy and reports;
  • independent legal advice and support through justice-making options (restorative justice mediations, entering church complaints procedures, and/or criminal prosecution); and
  • ongoing pastoral/spiritual counselling and advocacy.

Pastoral Mission

  • To assist primary survivors of professional misconduct, exploitation and abuse, by responding holistically to the impact of sexual, psychological, physical, spiritual, ritual, intellectual, economic, racial and age based violations.
  • To provide innovative avenues, processes and programs for survivors' recovery. This is achieved through a coordinated pastoral counselling and advocacy model with liaison to legal counsel and psychological care. We also provide information, resources and other support.
  • To work across all significant and interdependent relationships with persons, families, groups, communities, organisations and institutions to create an arena of safety and restoration for survivors of professional misconduct.
  • To value and respect diversity by developing educational response models to professional misconduct, which demonstrate inclusiveness, collaboration and cooperation with allied professionals, and minority, disadvantaged and special needs groups.

Privacy and Confidentiality

In Good Faith and Associates recognises that it is each survivor's right to retain privacy, confidentiality and safety. All documentation is held securely and no information is divulged in any form without the written authorisation of each individual client.

Our consultancy also offers public advocacy and undertakes community development. Survivors may have the opportunity to work as a collective towards empowerment and systemic change. In these situations, clients participate on the basis of informed written consent, each determining the extent of their involvement.
